I don’t know if the science backs it, but I find ideas around “ego depletion” compelling — I call it cognitive availability there is a zero-sum pool of energy I have every day to be creative, and I try to apply that energy to things I actually want to do for example, I am big on meal-prepping because I don’t want to have to think about what I’m going to have for lunch in my past life I had back-to-back meetings all day and found all the little decision-making and context-switching exhausting — now my calendar is almost always empty I also find that if I’m sleepy it’s often due to what I did the day before: - didn’t exercise enough - caffeine after noon - wine - carbs
