Being on the both sides of the table

Metaphor of different levels always has being on the same for interviewer and interviewee. 

But why you need to think from the other side?

I’m not a good listener or a good student, but occasionally I will hear something that I would remember and sometimes awkwardly repeat on my mind for a long time. 

One of the things I can remember is to think from the other side of table.
